When you're starting out as a e-business owner free advertising is key to your survival. Here are a few methods I use to get some free exposure.
- Click-Thru.Net - This is a very interesting program. You sign up your website for free. Then you surf other sites on the network to receive credits. Then other people involved with the network will surf your site and you will use your credits towards these visits. I wouldn't recommend this if you want targeted traffic, as some people aren't really looking to much at your site, they just want the credits. Each surfer must stay on your site thirty seconds to receive a credit, though, and it is a good way to get some free exposure.
- Search Engine Promotion - Another great way to advertise your site for free, but it can also be time consuming and frustrating. If you're serious about promoting search engines, I suggest you read our articles in the Search Engine Promotion portion of our site.
- Reciprocal Links - This is a very powerful method of getting some extra free traffic. Start your own link page and add sites that are similar to yours. Then e-mail the webmasters of these sites and ask if they can add a link to their site. It benefits both your sites and search engines love websites that have their links on other related sites. - Newsletter - Absoloutely start your own newsletter as soon as you have your site up and running. Your opt-in list can be a great tool to promote new features on your site as well as stay in touch with your customer base. A great piece of software tha can help you organize and automate your newsletter is called MailLoop. MailLoop is like having your own newsletter server and will make your newsletter and opt in e-mail list a force to be reckoned with!
